It is the only private company capable of returning a spacecraft from low Earth orbit, which it first accomplished in 2010. SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft is flown into space by the Falcon launch vehicle to supply the International Space Station (ISS) with cargo. A manned version of Dragon was developed, and SpaceX’s Crew Dragon made its first flight with astronauts onboard to the ISS in May 2020, marking the first time a private company had done so.
